To strengthen nursing knowledge and practice that minimises the behavioural symptoms of dementia and that exceeds the strengthened standards, resulting in truly holistic, person-centred, evidence-based care with measurable outcomes, improved quality of care, and reduced risks for residents, staff, and the organisation

Prue was the proponent and clinician for the successful research on non-pharmacological intervention to reduce the behavioural symptoms ofdementia, funded by the Commonwealth Government.
Her speciality is guiding RACF staff to deliver dementia care that is reflective of best practice, aligned with all legislation and protects the residents, organisations and the registration of nurses.
Workshop Timeline
0900 – 10: 30 Do it once, do it right
- Where admission and assessment processes still fail the resident, staff, and some NMBA & ACQSC standards.
- Assessment activities for respectful, wholistic, individual focused care & to reduce BPSD from time of admission.
- How to assess and plan care across the 6 cognitive domains used in dementia diagnostic criteria
10:45 – 12:15 Neurocognitive disorders and symptom clusters
- DSM5 TR 2022 Alzheimer’s, Lewy body, vascular; frontotemporal lobe dementias.
- The four dementia symptom clusters to direct nursing practice.
- Government funded research of non-pharmacological strategies to reduce BPSDs, falls and SIRs.
- Evidencing your practice and compliance for NMBA and ACQSC
13:00 – 16:15 Developing the wholistic, individualised care document
- Step by step, for 2 real residents selected by participants, we develop personalised, wholistic plans that support each resident’s abilities and lifestyle preferences, minimises the development of BPSDs and evidences your compliance with NMBA & ACQSC standards.
Delivery options
- A full day Zoom presentation, as above.
- Break it up – four x 90minute Zoom sessions, over one week.
- A full day in-person presentation (additional fees apply).

Fee $330 per RN (incl. GST) if purchased in 2025, regardless of presentation date!
